His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema has thanked the chiefs in the Copperbelt province for the support shown at this year’s Katanino traditional ceremony of the lamba lima people of Masaiti district on the Copperbelt.
Speaking during the ceremony as guest of honor, the president added that there was a need to avoid
Succession wrangles as they take away development in areas with succession issues.
The president further stated that as chiefs, their Leadership roles should include helping people in drought and farming issues, as the Government will this year provide agriculture inputs for chiefs to show leadership in agriculture.
Mean while, Minister of Local Government Garry Nkombo has called on the people of Copperbelt province to ensure that the Ward Development Committees are fully utilized through the decentralization policy, which has made development easy through CDF.
Mr Nkombo said that the decentralization policy has shown the importance of sub structures such as WDCs, where power has been given to the people from the central government to develop the province.
Mr. Nkombo said his ministry will support all sanitation and water projects that will be applied for as the country faces drought. He added that the applications on drought facilities will be responded to rapidly.
