Lufwanyama Town Council has celebrated Zambia’s diamond jubilee under the theme: 60 years strong: Honoring our heritage, embracing our future. which was graced by District Commissioner, Lufwanyama Member of Parliament Kenny Siachisomu, Lufwanyama Council Chairperson Annie Kapandula, Councillors and District Department Heads.
Speaking during the celebration Council Chairperson Annie Kapandula has stated that 60 years of independence is a milestone which should not be taken likely as it signifies great accomplishments for the country.
And Lufwanyama Member of Parliament Kenny Siachisomu has emphasized the importance of unity in the district ,, as it the core foundation for the development of the district, he added that the district had seen much development due to the peace that the country is experiencing, stating that where peace prevails, development strives.
He further thanked the six chiefs in the district that have upheld peace in the district, as Lufwanyama continues to develop.
And guest of honor District Commissioner Justin Mwalikwa, called on everyone to reflect on the freedom fighters that fought for our freedom, he stated that Lufwanyama continues to be a town that is strong and embarrasses everyone as beacon of peace and unity.
Mr Mwalikwa added that under the leadership of his excellence Hakainde Hichilema, the country is developing, as seen under the Constituency Development Fund, whose money has been brought about social and economic development in the country and at district level. He added that other programs such as FISP, CEEC marketeer booster loans and Cash for work are among many that government has put in place for money to reach all the people of the country.
He added that 60 years of independence is an indication that peace and unity are important in the development of the district, he further called on the people to engage in constructive dialogue and embrace peace and unity for the development of the district.
