Lufwanyama Town Council has paid a total of k543,600 to 906 workers under the cash for work program which started over a month ago in the district, and 19 wards out of the 20 wards have been paid.
The program has seen public works done such as the cleaning of drainages, moulding of bricks, construction of classroom blocks and many other works identified by the community.
The Council is happy to inform the general public that the cash for work program has continued and is making a good impact on the resident as it was created to help the people through the draught situation that the country is facing where many lost their crops to due to little to no rain during the 2023 to 2024 farming season.The cash for work (CFW) programme is specifically designed to reach vulnerable households in areas not mostly affected by draught.
The Council would also like to inform the public that the guidelines of the program remains the same and only those that are not on any social security program are eligible to take part in the program whose works are for 10 days with a pay of K600 kwacha, which is paid upon verification of the works by the Council through WDCs or the works department.
Furthermore, the council would like to inform those benefiting from the work to ensure the names appearing on the NRC and on the mobile money phone registered are corresponding since payments are being done through mobile money platforms from the bank.
