Over 600 students graduate from Katembula Youth Resource Center from various programs sponsored by the Constituency Development Fund in Lufwanyama District at which 677 students graduated from the center. The occasion was graced by the Minister of Youth, Sports and Art, Hon. Elvis Nkandu as guest of honor for the event.
The students who graduated were also awarded with some start up packages relevant to the programs among which were tailoring machines , bricklaying and carpentry tools, farming inputs etc.
Speaking during the graduation, Katembula Resource Center Advisory Chairperson James Mwanza informed the guest of honor that, the center has seen over 10,700 students graduate from the center since its inception.
Mr Mwanza stated that CDF though the council has made it possible for the center to have an increased number of enrollment from as low as 10 to over 200 enrollments every year, which has been necessitated by the increase in CDF grant allocation by the government.
And Lufwanyama Town Council Chairperson Annie Kapandula has called on youths in the district to utilize the opportunity under CDF to enroll and acquire various skills to change their lives, she added that the programs are fully paid for by Government through CDF and youths should step up and seize the opportunity.
In addition, Lufwanyama Member of Parliament Kenny Siachisomu thanked the president for increasing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) as it has made it possible for the increased numbers of students graduating from Katembula Youth Resource Center. District Commissioner Justin Mwalikwa also shared the same sentiments on the increased CDF thanking the president for the move.
Guest honor and Minister of Youth Sports and Arts Elvis Nkandu has called on the graduates to exhibit the at most use of the skills they have squired from the center, he added that the graduates should endeavor to be employers in their programs as it is the wish of government to empower many people through (CDF).
He has further called on the Mines in the district to help the government through the corporate social responsibility to refurbish Katembula Youth Resource Center to better standards.
