Copperbelt Development Foundation Limited and Rotary Club of Kitwe has handed over the construction of a modern one by three classroom block and ablution block at St.Joseph School for hearing impaired learners.
Lufwanyama District Education Board Secretary Patson Mukuba has thanked the CDFL for the new infrastructure at the school and was pleased to have partners that supplement government efforts in education in the district. He added that Lufwanyama being a developing district, such infrastructure was a plus to the development of the district.
And Lufwanyama District Commission Justin Mwalikwa has further stated that the handover was a great milestone as it was not the first of it’s kind from CDFL in the district. He added that CDFL has been a partner in development by ensuring such development is brought to every part of the district where it was mostly needed.
Lufwanyama Council Chairperson Annie Kapandula has further thanked the government for not leaving anyone behind through the introduction of free education and as such new policies have been introduced to include all people from all walks of life including the differently abled.
Rotary Vice President Michael Kauzi added that such projects was meant to create a better learning environment for the learners at the school, further that education was one of the basic tools for development and for our children who are impaired needed such support through education infrastructure, he added that as Rotary Club there have placed education at the top of their mandate to support and partner with the government in supplementing government efforts. Meanwhile Kennedy Musonda CDFL Chairperson informed the gathering that the organization was mandated to bring development to the copperbelt, hence adds bringing education to every child regardless of there physical challenges.
And guest of honor Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Augustine Kasongo speaking during the handover ceremony thanked the CDFL and the Rotary Club as the gesture was evident of the partnership of organizations and the government. He added that the provision of a modern learning environment and learning materials was the core of the government through the ministry of education, he added that the building of the modern facility will help the children with the hearing impaired at the school.
Mr. Kasongo further added that there was need to work together with all stakeholders to provide education for all children especially the hearing-impaired learners.
