LUFWANYAMA CELEBRATES MALARIA DAY

Lufwanyama District Health office and Lufwanyama Town Council Commemorate End Malaria Day.
District Health Director Dr. Joel Muntanga in his address to the gathering, said that malaria continue to cast a long shadow on Lufwanyama District which continues to rank the highest in the province in terms of Malaria cases.
Dr. Muntanga was speaking during the commemoration of the Malaria Day in the District which was held in Mukumbo ward under the Theme: “Malaria ends with us: reinvest, reimagine, reignite.”
He added that the impact was felt mostly by children under five and pregnant women, he however assured that there was hope for the district as the disease was both preventable and curable.
Dr. Muntanga added that the district so far embarked on indoor spraying and had also continued to promote malaria prevention methods through the help and support of the End Malaria Council Zambia.
Guest of Honor, District Commissioner Justin Mwalikwa, emphasized the importance of sustained efforts in the fight against malaria. He acknowledged the President’s commitment to ensuring the fight against the disease through the office of the District Health Office was achieved.
Mr Mwalikwa added that the commemoration serves as a reminder of the need for continued collaboration and efforts to control and eventually eliminate malaria in Lufwanyama District.
