Lufwanyama Pays K14 Million Through Cash for Work Program

Lufwanyama Town Council has disbursed over K14 million to 23,475 beneficiaries through the Cash for Work program since November 2024 to August 2025 respectively.
The initiative, aimed at providing temporary employment while enhancing local infrastructure and climate resilience, has delivered a dual impact putting money directly into the hands of vulnerable households and improving vital community assets across the district.
Under the program, beneficiaries have been engaged in a wide range of labor-based projects, including road maintenance, drainage clearing, reforestation, small scale irrigation, and rehabilitation of community schools and other public facilities.
The program also emphasized gender inclusion, with a significant number of participants being women and youth, many of whom face limited employment opportunities in rural areas. The Cash for Work initiative provided not just financial support but also a sense of purpose and community participation.
